Cathrine Armour

Eye on Earth

Originally from Australia, Cathrine has worked in the consulting, spatial and manufacturing industries across the Middle East, South East Asia, India and the UK.

She holds responsibility for the delivering the vision, mission and objectives of Abu Dhabi Global Data Initiative (AGEDI) encompassing organisational development, local, regional and international partner engagement, operational management and developing the strategy and business plan for achieving its development targets. In her capacity as Programme Manager, Cathrine reports directly to Her Excellency Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary General, Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.

Cathrine has a BSc in Environmental Studies with specialism in Geographic Information Systems and Spatial Analysis from James Cook University. Her background is in strategy and programme development, consulting services and software development including Partner and regional market, distribution and channel development. She also holds a post-graduate qualification in Business and Technology from the University of New South Wales.

Currently Cathrine is focusing on the design, development and delivery of the Eye on Earth Summit alongside the transition of AGEDI from a government incubated initiative to an independent foundation.

Recent assignments include establishment of a Geospatial Data ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Hyderabad, India; Environment Agency, National Flood Risk Assessment 2009 database QA Review; Project Director for Local Authority Tool & Guidance for Local Authorities to Collate, Record and Maintain Information on Assets Relating to Sources of Local Flood Risk, and Expert Reviewer for the Environment Agency, Modelling, Map and Data Strategies Consultation.

Cathrine is particularly focused on the evolution, application and sharing of geospatial technology and expertise to resolve essential resource and infrastructure management issues. She is committed to the value data and information provides to answering critical questions in policy development and decision-making.
